We are so pleased with the work that was done by Gardens of Prestige at our home. We had heard so many things about this company. The crew that did the work were extremely professional, pleasant and hard working. Jennifer and her crew were truly amazing and courteous, whether it be hooking up the sprinklers for us or moving materials out of the way so we had a clear path to get to our door. We cannot say enough good things about them. Gardens of Prestige remained on schedule and on budget

    Shoddy Workmanship

Gardens of Prestige was hired to lay a stone patio around our new pool. The owner obviously knew the soil was disturbed, and went ahead with the project. They did not compact the soil or use sufficient screening before placing the stones. As a result, the stones collapsed and shifted within 3 days, after the first rain. We were left with an unsafe, uneven, unfinished deck. Gardens of Prestige refused to accept responsibiliy or to stand behind their work. They quoted us almost $5,000 to come back and repair the damage. We could not trust them to fix what they had installed improperly in the first place.

I want to clarify the sequence of events. My client hired a company to install a pool in their back yard. They contacted my company to install an interlocking brick patio around the pool and at the home. When I attended a site visit the pool was under construction. I asked my client to ensure the pool company would compact the fill around the pool when they were back filling. A few days later I visited the home and noticed the outside of the pool was being back filled but no compaction was being performed. I offered to supply my equipment to compact the fill but my client declined. I informed my client that I could not guarantee the the fill would not settle. A few days later a concrete slab was poured around the pool on the uncompacted fill. We installed an interlocking brick patio on the concrete pad and a patio near the home a few days later. We told the client that we would try our best to compact the gravel base but could not guarantee any settling issues under the concrete pad. Upon completion, we were paid the balance less a $500 holdback in lue of allowing the clients wife to examine the project. A few days later a torrential rain storm passed by. My client called us to let us know some of the brick had settled. After attending a site visit it was clear that the interlocking brick around the perimeter and under the concrete pad had settled by 2-3 inches however no settling occurred elsewhere. It was disappointing to see our work ruined due to the improper construction practices of other companies. I told my client that it would be very difficult to properly compact all the fill under the concrete slab and estimated the repair cost to be around $5,000. Our position is that we will warrantee all our work however will not take responsibility for consequences of poor workmanship completed by other companies. In addition, my client should have accepted the professional advice of the contractors they employed to successfully complete the project rather than blame others for their oversights and inexperience at being a general contractor.
