Are you one of those people with a jewelry box or drawer full of knick-knacks such as a grandmother’s home-strung crystal necklace or a pair of vintage cufflinks for which you never seem to have the right outfit? They’re family treasures that you don’t want to discard, but you never actually wear them.
This is where jewelry artist Maddie Kessel of Migdal Jewelry comes in. Maddie uses her imagination and creative flair to fashion new men's and women’s pieces out jewelry and other items such as old-fashioned keys, antique lace and glass from chandeliers. It may all sound wacky and unlikely, but the finished items are stunning, funky and utterly unique.
“I like the idea of continuing a narrative,” says Maddie. “Using old pieces maintains a connection with the past. What I do is sustainable and green which is important to me.”
