It’s truly a family affair at The Sterling Social. Chef and owner Shauna Jones lives just five doors away from her cozy café on Sterling Road and her parents live across the street. Her grandfather built the café’s central communal dining table and her sister pops by regularly to help out behind the counter.
After working in the service industry for 15 years, Shauna opened The Sterling Social in August 2014 in Toronto’s Junction Triangle area. The charming 20-seat café is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the busy neighbourhood intersection, the light-filled interior is an ideal spot for people watching.
Shauna prepares an ever-changing assortment of soups, salads and seasonal dishes alongside a set menu of sandwiches that are designed to complement her handmade condiments. “I really wanted to create a variety of sandwiches that would go well with my homemade sauces,” she explains.
