Nancy Mills and Charlotte Nielsen are passionate about floral design. And it shows. At their shop Gilded & Green in the Yonge and Lawrence neighbourhood, colourful roses, classic orchids and lush outdoor planters set the scene. “We’re a custom design flower shop,” explains co-owner Nancy. “We are designers. It’s completely different from grab-and-go flower shops.”
The duo met while working together at a flower shop in Toronto. “We just clicked and we decided to do this on our own,” adds Nancy. With a joint background as business owners—Charlotte used to have a flower studio and Nancy ran a gift shop—they took the plunge and opened the store in April 2014.
