Tania Henriques and Michelle Chrisomeris had been cutting and styling hair together for seven years before deciding it was time to team up and start their own business. In May 2016, they opened the doors to their first salon, Hive + Hawk. “We were pretty passionate,” says Tania. “We know that in this industry, you either work for someone else for a long time or, eventually, you work for yourself.”
The decision was motivated in part by a desire to try out new things. “We wanted to do a couple of different things from what we were doing,” Tania explains. “We decided to branch off because, like that, you can control what classes you take and what products you work with.”
