First and last time there. My husbands fish was cold an half cooked. The Brushetta bread was cold and with cheese it was like chewing rubber I also have never had this bread with H.P. sauce all over it we told the waitress and all she said was it was warm when she picked it up. Prices are way to high. The TV was blaring so loud you couldnt talk. Very bad experience and it was my Anniversery meal.
Always great, quick service and delicious food. My family and I really enjoy going on Sundays for the fish and chips. The renovations make it more comfortable and inviting. They are extremly accomidating to our requests.
First time we tried this place and not one of us were pleased with the food, service or price.
The fries were cold and greasy, I assume they were sitting around for some time. I asked the server if they could be replaced with fresh fries and she said the kictchen was to busy and it might take 15 min.
Told her to forget it and left them on my plate.
The burger was very pricey and tasted like leather. I assume it was sitting around as well. We found the place dirty, the wait staff was rude when asked a simple question about menu items and service was slow.
I wouldn't mind waiting if the food was good, but this was ridiculous. Prices are out of line for what you get and NO TIPS required for this type of service. Surprised they could stay open. Seemed like the table next to us was unhappy as well, because one of their meals was placed on our table and the server left. By the time she returned 5 minutes later the customer felt uncomfortable to eat his meal that sat at our table and was just returned to him. I couldn't believe it.
NOT RECOMMENDED OVER PRICED POOR SERVICE
I had a bread clip in my gravy and the waiter told me he knew where it came from and told me that it wouldn't kill me. Another guy that was with us also had a piece of plastic wrapping in his fries. Who knows what else was in the food that we didn't notice. It sounds like they really don't care.
Man I still cant get over the great meal I hade today so I am compelled to write about it. The Anchor Pub in Wingham is not usually my first choice but as they were the only ones open I took a chance with my family. What a treat, I had the best hamgurger of my life. It was topped with pmeal bacon and cheddar, definetly hand made and the fries reminded me of my favorite chip truck on the lake in Toronto. My wife had a chicken quesadilla and now she is addicted, great service too, we will be back soon.
An oasis of delight within a small town atmosphere
After quite a number of visits we still find the food delightful, the service prompt and friendly by staff who treat you like family. An eclectic mix of business people and colourful local characters gives the place the flavour of an English pub, a home away from home! When the work week is done or simply for a lunch time break; this is the place to be.
VERY overpriced Pub grubb. Plain bar food at a very inflated price. nothing special here, slow service, and food priced WAY to high. Anchor Pub, your a PUB, not a fine dining restraunt.

Their sweet potato fries are TO DIE FOR and their summer salad (I think that's what it's called) is REALLY good too. It has large fresh veggies such as yellow peppers and comes with your choice of dressing. We liked the raspberry vinegrette.
The food was just amazing and the people are even BETTER! Great service and so nice!
They also have GREAT live MUSIC! ;)
We've been there a couple times and we've really enjoyed ourselves every time!
