I bought my carpet and vinyl plank for my new house from Aktas Floors. The vinyl plank Emily recommended is solid and water resistant. I literally scratched it with a knife and nothing happens to these planks.
First, I wanted hardwood to be installed, but Emily convinced me that this material is more durable and resistant and she actually saved me couple thousand dollars for this change of mind.
