Let me start by saying the correct name for this place is Fortune's Madawaska Valley Inn.
They have an all day menu that includes items like pulled pork sandwiches, fish & chips, etc. Then at dinner time they add a blackboard menu for more dinner type items. When we were there, there was pickeral, chicken, braised beef short ribs, schnitzel, pasta and a few other things. Our group of four split an order of onion rings as an appetizer -- hot and nicely battered. 3 of us ordered schnitzel and 1 ordered the braised beef ribs. Everything was very, very good. Servings of the schnitzel were large. I asked for cranberries to go with my schnitzel but they didn't have any.
Our waitress was a bit forgetful. We had to ask twice about the cranberries before she remembered to check with the kitchen. We had to ask twice for milk for tea.
2 had butter tarts for dessert. They were small and hubby said not worth ordering again. I had the maple cinnamon roll which was partially warmed (not sure they did that). Had it been warmed fully, it would have been excellent.
One thing that I really didn't care for was that all the cutlery was in a container in the middle of the table. I don't think this is very sanitary.
We were staying in Kingston at the Holiday Inn and decided to use the in hotel restaurant. It was a pleasant experience and we were seated beside a window, so we got to see the lake. It started to get fairly busy, but wasn't loud at all.
There was a menu, but we both decided to try the buffet. The food was decent with a lot to choose from - I may have had more than I needed to. The wine selection was standard, nothing spectacular.
Our server (I forget her name) was quite attentive and very engaging. Will definately try again if we decide to visit Kingston.Lire plus
With my wife and I travelling to Kingston for work/concert, we were impressed with the Marriott Waterfront. The staff pays such close attention to every detail and you can tell that they genuinely care that your experience is stress-free, comfortable and relaxing. Between perfect location on the water, just steps to restaurants and shops, their friendliness, their helpfullness with surrounding attractions and stunning and spacious rooms, this is without a doubt our top hotel in the Kingston area!Lire plus
This place was fantastic. We booked a last minute room on a long weekend and they were very accommodating. Had a room with two double beds. Beds (and pillows especially!) were super comfy. The rooms all exit to the outside, and the area is nice and quiet. They have nice televisions with 60 odd channels, they give towels and soaps in the bathroom, and have a mini fridge, coffee maker and cups for your use. In the mornings in the main building they have a small but very satisfying breakfast with cereals, croissants, muffins, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, etc. If the weather is appropriate they even have an outdoor pool for guests to use. Everything in the room was clean and tidy, and it's not that far from downtown Kingston (just a quick drive into town). We got such a good value for the money you pay, we were very impressed. When we come back to Kingston we will always be staying here.Lire plus
