We recently went on a trip to Africa and got a bunch of our supplies from MEC including mosquito nets, sleeping bags, quick dry and wicking clothes, hiking boots etc. There was a great girl working there that had just been to Africa and gave us a preview of what we could expect. If you have never been to the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts (my friends call it short: Cooking School), well you have to try it. The restaurant is located just at the entrance to Granville Island.
I went there recently and ordered the following:
Appetizer: Red Beet / Gravad Lox ($9)
Main Course: Lamb Saltimbocca ($19)
Wine:
Hester Creek Okanagan Valley, BC Glass ($8)
This meal was a culinary delight. Pricing is very reasonable in comparison to the big names here in town.

Peter Mah and staff at Royal Oak are superb. Peter is extremely capable and, unlike most of the rest of the profession, is aware that aesthetics have a huge impact on people's self-esteem. Also surprisingly affordable, as they do the lab work in-house. The supporting staff are competent, patient, and understanding. I unreservedly recommend this clinic.

This is my favourite restaurant. period. I don't get the chance to travel to Vancouver much but we've debated flying in just for dinner at Ouisi. There isn't a thing on the menu you should not order. Great portion sizes, great flavours - I crave them while back home in Ontario.
