Nice restaurant, Pad Thai is definitely worth the visit alone. Staff is friendly and lunch service is very fast. Worth the drive to Burlington for lunch or supper.

I had shashimi dinner and my sister had Tempura dinner. We shared broiled scallop and Hawaiian roll. It was amazing, specially the tempura was really good- very crunchy.Definitely i'll visit this place again.

Faced with an 8 page menu, exhaustive in its range of enticing descriptions of Japanese and Korean food, I opted to sample the former side by having soup, salad and appetizers (3 as it turned out). I love miso soup and have had incarnations of it in many places in Canada and abroad but this broth was simply fabulous in the depth and complexity of what is often a flat, watery introduction to a meal. The poky salad (fresh tuna, julienned seaweed, etc.) was vibrant, flavourful and spicy as advertised.
I started my appetizer foray with mandu yaki (small homemade dumplings with a combo of 8 different ingredients) and tako yaki (fried minced octopus balls with a unagi and katsu sauce on the side). Can you say FABULOUS?. Having washed it all down with warm sake, I rested for a while and then tackled a tempura dish: soft shelled crab (4 pieces) with a ponzu sauce. Cheer again.
Service was attentive and friendly and relaxed especially when the young lady and John, the son of the owner realized that I wasn't in a hurry. (I was honoured with a tempura zucchini sample from the owner's garden (in the back he said when I mentioned that he had tomatoes growing in the front). This is simply wonderful food, presented with smiles and pride by people who love doing what they do.
I can't wait to return and try some deeply Korean dishes of which there is an abundance on that wide-ranging menu.

The thing that still stands out to me about pepperwood is the atmosphere. It has a very Jazzy NYC vibe to it which I loved. .
The food was alright... but I would definitely go back just for the atmosphere

I am Japanese and I like this restaurant! I have ordered Sushi only. I haven't tried other menus yet.
Sushi is good quality and service is good. I pay around 10 dollars for sushi. (5 pieces of sushi and 8 pieces of maki rolls) It's very very affordable.
If other people complain that it's not the best quality, this is not the place to go. You can't get the best quality for 10 bucks. Please go to restaurant owned by Japanese.
However, if you're looking for affordable, decent quality sushi, I highly recommend Bento Box.
I've been to 4 other Japanese restaurants in Burlington but I only go to Bento Box now.

Delicious food! I don't know why the other reviews are so bad, but this was by far the best chinese food I have ever had! I went in with my friend and the service was awesome! We were seated immediately, and our food came in about 5-10 minutes! The owner was so nice, and the atmosphere was cozy!
The food was delicious! YOU MUST try the general chicken! I can see why blossom city is so famous for it! Overall, I'm coming again soon!

My son and I ordered the Russell Burger & my daughter and wife ordered a Quich & Chicken Breast dinner. Food was well perpared and good quality. They used real cheese on the burger and potatoes weren't rozen. Excellent portion. Only con is the atmosphere and the lighting.

There is a part of the culinary world that values presentation, new combinations of ingredients, and the avant-garde over good flavours. I have heard it said as almost a criticism on cooking shows that the chef “just” makes really delicious food. Blacktree definitely belongs to that school of thought. I found the meal to be a tour de force of form over substance. The presentations were beautiful, I could see that a lot of work went into the dishes, but the flavours were disappointing.
Like Patricia below, I found the flavours did not complement one another. The actual proteins on the entrees were wonderful in and of themselves because they were of the highest quality and expertly prepared. But in each case the rest of the dish as a whole left all three of us flat.
I can’t be quite as kind about the desserts, they were simply not good. The fig upside down cake was actually inedible.
The service was excellent, we enjoyed our waiter and he was very attentive. But we found the pacing of the meal very slow. Sometimes this might be exactly what you want, but for us it was a work night and we didn’t like having to wait about an hour between the courses.
It was a culinary experience that I enjoy having once in a long while, but there are so many restaurants that “just” serve delicious food that it will be a long time before I go back to Blacktree.

This restaurant has become one of our favourite places to go in Burlington. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are so nice! From the moment you sit down they already have tea for you. One thing weve never figured out is that they give you 1 less menu than the amount of people in your group. But it all works out. The food is absolutely delicious and everything you need is at arms reach at your table. I highly reccommend the medium rare beef soup (101.). It may be one of the most delicious soups on earth..! They have hundreds of menu items to choose from too. I highly reccommend visiting this restaurant in the near future!

Been twice for lunch in the past 3 months, once on a weekday , once on a saturday. Very busy on Saturday, and understaffed, but the servers did a great job considering the number of tables.
Burger was excellent, melted in my mouth, a tiny bit of hot pepper mixed in was subtle, but a tasty novelty.
Everything seemed freshly made with fresh ingredients.
Fries were shoestring style, but piping hot and very good. Dry ribs were a tiny portion and virtually no meat, but my son liked them anyway.
Rather expensive, over $100 both times.
Clientele is a$ you would expect for the neighbourhood.

I had a wonderful night one week ago. the place is small but very hospitable. The waiter very professional and always friendly and helpful. And the food? .... WOW. I think it's the best Italian food I have ever tasted.

The guys at Imperial Brick and Stone did an awesome job on my flag stone pathway at the front of my house! It was in rough shape, all of the mortar was gone between the stones and needed to be raised and made level to the sidewalk. Its much safer now and it has added curb appeal. Thanks again Chris and Tyler! Jim.
