great food and service
I've been here many times, and I will continue to do so. I always go to the Chaucer's side of the building, where the same food can be had that is available at Marienbad. The menu is catering to an European contingent. Schnitzels, sausage platter, Goulash and Rouladen are just a few of the options. I've had almost everything on the menu and I've never been disappointed. I also like the fact that they have quite variety of beer ranging from special imports and some local micros. I also go for schnitzel fest as well, to try the different schnitzel that are created here. The menu also features some non-European dishes that cater to people that maybe don't like trying new things. Overall, the value here is good, and the food and service has always been very good. Quite a cosy atmosphere as well, with the fireplace and all.
I visit the 'pub' side of this restaurant (Chaucers) quite often as they carry a great range of import beers. Last week we had dinner in the restaurant and it was awesome! At first I wasn't sure what to order as the menu isn't the standard fare but our server recommended the goulash soup and schnitzel for me. We also had a paprika chicken dish and 2 pasta dishes, all superb. Plus the great beer selection from the bar.
We have been to the Marienbad several times. It is very authentic looking. Fancy with not making you feel like you need to be decked to the hills. But also fine if you are. A wonderful place to take a group, or a little friend to sit in a cosy corner with. Excellent place and prices. Have and will return many times to come.
First visit to this Restaurant and everything was perfect. The food was amazing (try goulash soup) and the service was very professional.
I LOVED IT. Me and my friend kris really enjoyed it.
Amazing service, the waiter we had knew all of the specials off-hand, everything about every dish, and even told us the history behind each each of the beers we ordered. We really enjoyed our meals. The Goulash Soup was especially good. The palaschinkas they serve for desert are also really good. This is probably my favourite restaurant in London. They always have a lot of new beers coming in, weekly specials, and they change items on the menu about every month.
This was a memorable dinner. As we walked in a band was playin light orchestra music. The atmosphere, look and feel was extremely classy, but the prices were very reasonable. Both of us tried dishes we had never had and we came away full, but wanting to try it again. My favorite restaurant in London so far.
This is the best kept secret in London. Great food not found in other restaurants in London. Large portions, friendly staff, reasonable prices and a great atmopshere. The bar and patio top off the great spot in downtown London.
we went to Marienbad for our night out and had an enjoyable dinner. We made reservations and were promptly seated on the patio. Service: Our waitress was good. She brought out our food and wine quickly and she was friendly and witty. Food: Good amount of food for both of us; there was enough so my wife could have half of hers for lunch the next day. Food was hot, well spiced, and presented well. Deserts: Tasty!
The appetizers were fabulous. The Chicken Oscar was tasty and definately the highlight, but the sides were boring and forgettable. The pork dish was plentiful and the saukerkraut was delicious, however, if you don't like gravy, I wouldn't recommend this dish. We have never tried traditional European dishes such as these, so it was a new experience, however, considering our age, we prefer a more contemporary ambiance and cuisine.
I figured I would give this restaurant a try, having a craving for German cuisine. I had the rouladen and it was terrible. It was dry, rough and hard to eat. The side wasn't too appealing either. It didn't even come close to my family's homemade rouladen. I was really, really disappointed. My guest had the schnitzel and said she liked it, although had never had it before.
